To refocus, you may need to recalibrate your work and life balance. Areas to consider include family, education, social interactions, physical exercise, career development, financial discipline, and your spiritual foundation. Ask yourself: What do I want? My objectives? My goals? What are my deadlines for accomplishment? What obstacles do I need to overcome? Who are the people, groups, and organizations I need to work with to overcome these obstacles? What knowledge and skills do I need to acquire? What is my plan of action?
Finally, remain resilient. If you look up the word resilience in the dictionary it would say something like this: Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness, the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity. To remain resilient, people need to be connected to the fundamental identity of the organization, to new information, to be able to develop relationships with people anywhere in the system.
My last speaking event of 2024 was for the Dakota County Community Development Agency. The Dakota County CDA is a local government agency whose mission is to improve the lives of Dakota County residents. I have delivered a handful of presentations to this CDA staff over the years and know the impact they have on their communities. The Dakota County CDA administers over 30 different programs that serve the residents of Dakota County and manages over 2,900 units of affordable rental housing for working families and seniors. One of their goals is to enhance the economic vitality of the communities within Dakota County through housing and community development.
